Atkinson has an interesting piece of history: the Kimball Museum. It used to be a library and a medical office, which was built by Reverend Stephen Peabody in 1907. The horse boarding facility has two arenas, plus boarding facilities like stalls, bed checks and food and water changes. If you want to ameliorate your horse-riding skills, go to the Atkinson Riding Academy. This riding school is located at Derby Talk Farm, a farm that’s been in existence since the 18th century. If you’re the parent of a horse lover, you can host your child’s birthday party at the Academy. The parties consist of horse care, cake, and presents. The Kimball Library offers four book discussions every month: two for adults, one for tweens and one for teens. It even provides tickets for nearby museums. Atkinson schools are operated by the Timberlane Regional School District. There’s one elementary school in town, which is its only school. Middle school and high school students go to schools in Plaistow.
